Beginning Jewelry with
Courtney Gray (Class #3405)
Jan 26-Mar 23 (8 classes - Tuesdays) 5:30-8:30 P.M. (no class 3/16)
This class is offered through the Austin Museum of Art visit www.amoa.org to register.
Spend these fun few weeks learning fascinating core techniques of jewelry making with emphasis on fabrication. Design and complete at least three projects incorporating skills learned and work with non-ferrous metals such as copper, silver, and brass. Work hands on and study techniques like drilling, piercing, sawing, filing, soldering, basic wire working, forming, dapping, riveting, stamping, finishing and more. (Beginners and intermediate are welcome)

Jewelry Design for Wax Casting with Courtney Gray (Class #3407)
3/25-4/15 (Thurs) 5:30 PM-8:30 PM
Learn the ancient technique of the lost-wax process. Create a master design out of wax, and then mold and cast your carved pieces into silver or gold. You will participate in the casting process and walk away with your own original piece of jewelry. Possibilities include rings, pendants, broaches or earrings. Learn the tricks of the trade that can take years to discover on your own, while working one-on-one in the studio with a professional wax carver and jeweler.

Precious Metal Clay with Janise Simmons (Class #3409)
1 class 3/27-3/27 (Sat) 10AM-6PM
Experience the limitless possibilities of Precious Metal Clay (PMC) with the emphasis on fabrication. PMC is pure silver suspended in an organic binder. Learn about design, shape and form as you become skilled at manipulating it like clay. This wonderful medium provides incredible shortcuts to obtaining a fine silver piece that would take weeks, if traditional metal-smith methods were used. PMC is a great medium to mix with beading or traditional metal work pieces. When your piece is fired in a kiln, you will have a beautiful piece of 99.9% pure silver jewelry emerging! No prior experience required. In the day-long section students will learn more about the firing process.
