Enameling with Confidence and Individuality with Barbara Minor

Monday - Friday, September 24-28, 10-6p

*All levels welcome. Basic metalsmithing/jewelry skills will be helpful but are not imperative.

If you are ready to explore color in your designs or want to expand your knowledge in enameling techniques... then this is the class for you. This is a comprehensive class that covers many facets of enameling and surface design. Through experimental and non-traditional approaches you will learn the essentials of successful enameling using transparent and opaque enamels. Techniques demonstrated will include silver/gold foil application, basse taille, champlevé, and a variety of inlay techniques (enamel shards, seed beads,“spit balls” and copper/silver screen). Other techniques discussed will include the possibilities for combining enamel/metal in designs, soldering before or after enameling, cold/chemical connections for setting after enameling, and fabricated setting possibilities. Students will create pieces to serve as technical reference or for use in future finished pieces.

Tuition: $995 + Kit fee TBD - Payment plans available | Kit fees paid last day of class
