Precious Metal Clay 3409 with Janise Simmons
Sunday, April 3, 10 am-6 pm
Experience the limitless possibilities of making jewelry with Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PMC is pure silver suspended in an organic binder. Learn how to design, shape and form your ideas in silver as you become skilled at manipulating PMC like clay. This wonderful medium provides incredible shortcuts to obtaining a fine silver piece that would take weeks to produce if traditional metal-smith methods were used. PMC is a great medium to mix with beading or traditional metal work pieces. When your piece is fired in a kiln, you will have a beautiful piece of 99.9% pure silver jewelry emerging! In this day-long session with an emphasis on fabrication, students will also learn more about the firing process. No prior experience required. This class is offered through the Austin Museum of Art.
