Riveting Jewelry with Rita Marie Ross

Want to join objects together without soldering? This cold connection workshop teaches you how to join metals and other materials together using tube rivets. This is a great way to build interesting and unusual jewelry pieces without the use of fire. Students are encouraged to bring their own interesting vintage found objects and pieces to incorporate into their projects (broken jewelry, watch parts, aluminum, buttons, vintage metal pieces). You will also learn how to use the rivets as hinges so your jewelry can move! Bring in your random textured pieces and scraps from other classes, like from our Fall 2011 “Textures and Finishes” and be amazed by what you can turn them into. We will be working with small parts so bring your magnification or optivisors. ★ No experience necessary!
